Home/ Services/ Wi-Fi Networks

Wi-Fi that actually reaches every room.

Irish homes have thick concrete walls, slab ceilings, and external stone. The single router from your provider was never designed for that. We install professional access points that are.

The problem

Mesh kits aren't the answer for Irish homes.

A consumer mesh kit sounds good on the box. In practice, mesh nodes talk to each other over Wi-Fi — which means they share, not extend, your bandwidth. Add a concrete chimney breast or a granite floor and the chain falls over.

Professional access points are wired back to your router with Ethernet. Each AP gets full bandwidth. Each AP hands off your phone or laptop to the next one as you walk — without dropping the call.

What's included

A complete network install.

Every job starts with a survey and ends with a configured, tested, documented network. Hardware quoted separately at cost.

Site Survey
Heatmap of current signal · interference scan · cable-route planning · AP placement plan. Bring written results.
Cabling
Cat6a structured cabling between router and access points. Routed through wall cavities, behind skirting, or via existing conduits where possible.

The process

From dead zone to full coverage.

01

Free home visit (30–45 min)

We walk your home with a signal analyser. Identify dead spots, interference sources, and the best cable routes. No charge, no obligation.

02

Itemised written quote within 24 hours

Labour, hardware, cabling, and any switches/PoE injectors listed separately. AP count and placement marked on a floor plan.

03

Install day (most jobs: 1 visit)

Cabling, mounting, switch installation, AP configuration. Floors and furniture protected. Tidy as we go.

04

Performance test & handover

Speed test at every room. Walk-through with you. PDF heatmap + network diagram delivered. 30 days email support included.

Gear we install

Commercial-grade, in residential cases.

We don't sell brands — we recommend the right kit for the job. These are what we install most often.

Ubiquiti UniFi

Ceiling-mounted Wi-Fi 6 APs. Single-controller management. Used in the same offices as Google and Facebook.

TP-Link Omada

Strong value-for-money commercial APs. Excellent for 3–4 bedroom semi-Ds. Cloud-managed firmware updates.

PoE Switches & Cabling

Cat6a structured cabling, Ubiquiti or Netgear managed switches. Sized for your home + headroom for future devices.

FAQ

Wi-Fi questions.

How many access points does an average home need?
For a typical 3-bed semi-D in Ireland, 2 APs is the usual spec — one centrally on the ground floor, one upstairs. Bungalows and dormers often need 2–3 depending on layout. Larger houses or those with a garden room may need 3–4. The site survey gives you a definitive answer based on signal measurements, not guesswork.
Will you drill through my walls?
Where cabling needs to run between rooms or floors, yes — but we route through wall cavities, under floorboards, or via existing service voids wherever possible. Visible cable runs are kept to a minimum and routed along skirting, never across the middle of a wall. Every drilled hole is sealed and tidied.
Can you reuse my existing router?
Yes — your provider's router stays as the main gateway. We typically disable its Wi-Fi so the access points handle all wireless traffic without interference. If your router is very old or unstable, we'll flag it and discuss alternatives.
Is the Wi-Fi password the same on every AP?
Yes. You'll have one SSID (network name) across the whole house. Your phone, laptop and TV hand off between access points automatically as you move — no manual switching. We also set up a separate guest network so visitors don't see your main devices.
What happens if an access point fails?
Professional APs are very reliable — UniFi gear we installed three years ago is still running on its original firmware. If a unit does fail, manufacturers offer 2–5 year warranties. With our monthly support retainer we monitor uptime remotely and replace failed units proactively.
Do I need fibre broadband for this to work?
No. Better Wi-Fi infrastructure improves whatever connection you have — but it can't make your incoming broadband faster than what your provider supplies. If you're on slow ADSL, we'll be honest about the ceiling before quoting.
